Elgin Open
I played in the Elgin Open this weekend at The Highland of Elgin which marked my first competitive round of golf in nearly 9 years. In the opening round, I was standing on the 14th hole, a reachable par 5, at 3 under par and in prime position to post a 67 or 68. I end up making double bogey and stumbling to an even par 72. It was a very disappointing finish but had somebody asked me prior to the round if I'd be happy shooting a 72, I probably would've said, "yes."
The second round was a disaster. I hit some bad shots, got some bad breaks, and then the round just kind of spiralled out of control from there. I finished with an 84 (72-84) which put me somewhere around 7th place out of 55-60 golfers. Nevertheless, I had fun challenging myself again in that environment. A high school friend caddied for me, the weather was great, my daughter Addison was waiting for me on the 18th green, and I was determined to have fun. And I did.
